Watch TUDOR's New Documentary, "La Pilota" Now!
In “La Pilota”, we tell the incredible tale of Marchesa Carina Negrone and her daring feats in the sky while taking a closer look at what it means to pass down a heirloom collection of watches imbued with that pioneering spirit.
In 1935, Italian Aviator Marchesa Carina Massone Negrone flew to 12,043 meters (39,402ft) in an open-cockpit biplane, setting a world record for highest altitude in a propeller-driven biplane that has not been broken to this day. That was simply the kind of daring pioneer she was; in 1933 she was the first female in Italy to receive a pilot’s license. She would go on to set 7 more aviation records, one being the first and fastest nonstop flight from Brescia in Italy’s North to Luxor, Egypt. She completed the flight in 13 hours and 34 minutes, averaging 299 kilometers an hour.
Throughout her life she wore Tudor watches, and those watches have been passed down to her grandchildren. The watches are imbued with her daring spirit and serve as a reminder of what it means to push boundaries and blaze trails. But to Jos Bendinelli and Madalena Negrone, the watches are simply a family heirloom that carry in them the incredible legacy of their grandmother.
