TUDOR HERITAGE BLACK BAY

TUDOR HERITAGE BLACK BAY

Steeped in the mysterious aura of a hidden bay, the TUDOR Heritage Black Bay offers a window onto several decades of adventures in deep waters. First presented in 2012 in a version featuring warm burgundy and black-chocolate tones, the TUDOR Heritage Black Bay returns in 2014, icy and sharp.

The new Heritage Black Bay exalts the original TUDOR Submariner tool-watches and their presence on the wrists of divers in some of the world’s greatest navies. Featuring an icy face, sharp lines and a midnight-blue bezel, this model is infused with a decidedly tech allure. Its deep-black dial strikes a cold, marked contrast with the silvery hour markers and their white luminescent material. The silver-coloured, luminescent hands offer the same contrast as they cut across the dial with surgical precision.

With its black-chocolate dial, its pink-gold hands and hour markers, its creamy luminescent material and its burgundy bezel, this Heritage Black Bay is reminiscent of the gentle warm patina of an antique watch. It tells of the nostalgia for objects whose appeal increases over time and plays on the charm of its attractive aura.

THE LEGEND CONTINUES

60 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS INSPIRATION IN THE PURSUIT OF TECHNICAL PERFECTION

Like all Heritage models, the TUDOR Heritage Black Bay is the very opposite of a mere re-edition. It is the result of a creative process that sees the aesthetic codes that contributed to the renown of historical models preserved and injected with modern touches.

A modern synthesis of the emblematic TUDOR diver’s models of the past 60 years, the Heritage Black Bay was awarded the Revival prize at the ‘Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève’ in 2013.

VINTAGE LINES

An open book on decades of deep-water adventures, the Heritage Black Bay features lines inspired by the brand’s first diver’s watch, the TUDOR Submariner, launched in 1954. Its slender, elongated lugs, domed crystal and dial are all details shared by the first TUDOR Submariners.

WINDING CROWN

The imposing winding crown of the Heritage Black Bay is a nod to a model presented in 1958 and dubbed “Big Crown” by collectors. The watch is waterproof to 200 metres (660 feet).

PAST AND PRESENT

Superbly crafted interchangeable wristbands, a robust 41 mm steel case with a refined finish and a coloured, anodized aluminium crown tube. These are just a few of the contemporary design elements that contribute to the Heritage Black Bay’s powerful identify.

Other details meanwhile - such as the characteristic angular-shaped “Snowflakes” hands first introduced by TUDOR in 1969, evoke the brand’s aesthetic heritage.

GENEROUS LUMINESCENCE

The elegantly domed black dial displays generous luminescent hour markers for perfect visibility.

THE STRAP

Like all models in the Heritage line, the TUDOR Heritage Black Bay comes with two bracelets or straps: an adjustable fabric strap with a sophisticated weave and a choice of either an aged-leather strap with a folding clasp or a satin-finished steel bracelet with a folding clasp.

OVER 60 YEARS OF HISTORY REVISITED

The Heritage line represents the very essence of the TUDOR spirit and is the standard-bearer of its stylistic identity. Revisiting some of the most emblematic models in the history of the brand, it pays homage to its unique values and to more than six decades of rich heritage.

The timekeepers in the Heritage line are not simply vintage re-issues. They are genuine reinterpretation-of-an-icons in which past, present and future are combined. While retaining the original spirit, aesthetic codes and key characteristics of the historic models, TUDOR’s Style Workshop places them at the very heart of the contemporary world, modernising them stylistically with small, subtle touches and adding new technical characteristics to optimise their performance.

And so "tomorrow's icons" are born - modern classics, harmoniously combining form and function.
